about us

What we believe

We accept the revelation of the triune God given in the Scriptures of the Old and   New Testaments and confess the historic faith of the Gospel set forth therein.
  • We recognise the sovereignty and grace of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit in creation, providence, revelation, redemption and final judgement.  He alone is to be worshipped.
  • The Bible is divinely inspired and is consequently entirely trustworthy and the supreme authority for us in all matters of faith and conduct.
  • Human beings were created good, but through the Fall the image of God in them became defaced, though not so ruined as to be incapable of restoration.  In our unredeemed state, all human beings are sinful and guilty, making us subject to God's wrath and condemnation.
  • We recognise the substitutionary sacrifice of Jesus Christ the incarnate Son of God (that is, fully human yet fully God) as the sole all sufficient ground of redemption for us from the guilt and power of sin and from its eternal consequences.  Through this sacrifice, God redeemed humanity and began the process of restoring people to goodness.
  • A person is justified solely by the grace of God through their faith in Jesus Christ crucified and risen from the dead.
  • We recognise that God commands those who have come to faith to be baptised in water.
  • We believe in the illuminating, regenerating, indwelling and sanctifying work of God the Holy Spirit in all believers, particularly through the experience of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit.
  • We recognise the priesthood of all believers, who form the universal Church, of which Christ is the Head and which is committed by His command to the proclamation of the above good news to all people throughout the world. We believe that High Street should be a local expression of this great Body.
  • We expect the personal, visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ in power and glory, at which time we shall see the final fulfilment of God’s purposes for humanity.
